It has become apparent that many new members have a few questions as they start to make The Body Shop a regular part of their lives. We hope this hand-out will cover the most commonly asked questions.
How Do I Check In?
As you enter the club please be sure to run your membership card through the scanner at the front desk. If you have yet to receive your membership card, please ask a member of the front desk staff if your card is ready for pick up. All new members will receive a membership card and will need to have their picture taken. If you have purchased a
punchcard, please stop and check in with one of our front desk associates prior to each workout.
What If I Forget to Bring a Towel?
Sweat towels and shower towels may be acquired at the front desk. Towels are available at the cost of $0.75 (large) or $0.25 (small). Towel punch cards are also available at the rate of $15.00 (large) or $5.00 (small) and are each good for 22 towels.
How Should I Dress?
We welcome you to wear workout clothing that feels comfortable to you and allows for freedom of movement while you exercise. We do require that you wear shoes (No Open-toed Shoes Allowed) and a shirt at all times. We also ask that you do not wear blue jeans while working out, as the rivets can damage the upholstery on our equipment.
Where Do I Leave My Personal Belongings?
Lockers are available for day use in the locker rooms. We do advise that you use a lock, and ask that you remove it when you are through working out for the day. The Body Shop does have a limited amount of lockers available for 6 or 12 month rentals. Please inquire at the front desk for prices and availability. If all that is needed is a place to set your keys, there is a community key rack near the front desk.
How Do I Start a Fitness Program?
Our fitness trainers are here to assist you! They will be happy to work with you and design an individual program to fit your needs. Each new member receives two complementary orientation sessions with one of our certified personal trainers. These can be scheduled upon sign up or at any time thereafter, just ask our front desk personnel for assistance. The Body Shop employs Certified Personal Trainers if you are interested in a detailed program. If you would like to inquire about different personal training packages/specials, please visit us at the front desk for a recommendation and/or the contact information for any of our Certified Personal Trainers.
May I Bring a Friend to The Body Shop?
Premier and Premium members are entitled to one complimentary guest pass per month. These passes are valid for new guests only (must be a different guest each month). Otherwise, there is a day fee per visit. Students are not allowed to have guests unless they pay a guest fee. If you have a guest that has not used fitness equipment before, please call ahead so that we can have a trainer available to assist them.
Can I help a friend join The Body Shop?
You bet! In fact we have an on going Membership Referral Program. Please visit the Front Desk for details about our current member referral incentives!
Does the Club Offer Childcare?
Yes! Please feel free to check at the front desk for a handout that covers child care rates, hours, rules, and the registration process.
How Does Billing Work?
We encourage our members to take advantage of the convenience of our EFT
(Electric Funds Transfer) system. Non-EFT members will need to pay their membership dues by the 1st or 5th of each month, depending on their membership type. (Information regarding your billing cycle should be marked on your contract.) With any other questions, please call and ask.
How Do I Sign Up to Use the Cardiovascular Equipment?
Please read and follow the rules which are posted in the cardiovascular room, or ask a trainer for assistance. In order to ensure use of the equipment, we ask that members use the sign-up sheets for the machine they wish to use. Please sign up for only one piece of equipment at a time with a maximum time of 30 minutes. After your 30 minutes are done you may go to another machine and sign up for more time. Again, please don’t sign up for more than one machine even if it is at different times. This ensures everyone being able to get their time on the
equipment. Do I have to sign up for aerobics classes?
No, please feel free to participate in any of the classes offered. You may want to let the instructor know if you are new so they can help welcome you to the class. The one class you will need to check in at the front desk for is Spinning (since there is a limited amount of bikes.) Upon doing so, you will receive a sweat towel and a class pass to take with you.
